SEPTEMBER 8, 2006 MEETING

The last quarterly meeting was hosted by the Delaware State Police at the headquarters
facility in Dover on September 8, 2006.  Attendees were also able to stroll through the
museum facility with interactive displays, static displays, and classrooms.  A special guest
speaker made an impressive presentation.

Debra Puglisi Sharp, author of the book “Shattered : Reclaiming a Life Torn Apart by
Violence” spoke from a victim perspective.  Debra’s presentation was amazing as she
recounted the day her husband was murdered and she was kidnapped and repeatedly
raped.

CRLEAA gratefully recognizes
Lt. John A. Campanella and Sgt. Wendy Nichols for hosting
the quarterly meeting.
THE SECOND QUARTERLY CRLEAA MEETING WAS HELD ON
FRIDAY, MARCH 9, 2007 AT THE GREENBELT POLICE DEPARTMENT

MINUTES:

The meeting was held at the Greenbelt Community Center, Greenbelt, MD

22 agencies were represented at the meeting.  32 people were in attendance.

Board Members in attendance:

Barbara Hopkins          President
Tami Bulla                  Vice President
Lee Potter                   Secretary
Patti Beauchamp        Treasurer

1)        The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. Chief Jim Craze of the Greenbelt Police Department
welcomed everyone to Greenbelt.  Chief Craze introduced Mayor Jay Davis who also made opening remarks.

2)        The minutes from the December meeting were approved.

3)         Patti Beauchamp did not have time to prepare a written budget report.  She did report that CRLEAA
made a $315.00 payment to the Delaware State Police Department to assist them with their recent mock
assessment.  CRLEAA also received $12.00 from a lawsuit settlement by VISA.  Patti will prepare a budget report
and send it out to the members.

4)        Tami Bulla reported that work on the CRLEAA web site is ongoing.  She and Eric Deuschle want to add a
new section whereby agencies can post when they are anticipating their next mock assessment.  She requested
that agencies send her the anticipated dates for their next mock assessment.  The goal behind this is to allow all
the members to view the dates of up coming mock assessments and make plans to help out other agencies.
Mock assessments are an invaluable tool in preparing for an on-site assessment.  More members of CRLEAA
need to get involved in mock assessments.

Tami also stated that they would like to create a section for forms.  This area is where agencies could post forms
that they use during their self-assessment that have helped them so that others may use them.

5)        Old Business

John Vail commented that the 5th edition of CACE-L does not allow the cutting and pasting of the standards.
He stated that he did bring this to the attention of CALEA and Jim Brown’s response was that this would not be a
hardship on agencies.  Most members present disagreed with Jim Brown’s assessment.

6)        New Business

CALEA’s new process book is out.  Lou Schmidt was the only member in attendance who looked the book over.
His overall impression is that it read easily and he was pleased with the new book.  This book combines the three
old process books: Accreditation Process Book,         Self-Assessment Manual, and Assessor Manual.

Cindy Allen from St. Mary’s County stated that they had their 1st mock assessment and they really appreciated
the effort by the members of the mock team.

7)        Sgt David Buerger from the Greenbelt Police Department was the guest speaker.  He talked about the
CALEA exemplary project that they have.  The project is a High School Criminal Justice Course.  This is an
innovative college level course taught in the local high school by certified police officers.

8)        The next meeting will be held on September 8, 2007 at the Anne Arundel County Animal Control
Facility, located at 411 Maxwell Frye Rd, Millersville, MD 21108.

9)        The meeting ended at approximately 11:00 a.m.
